On the basis of kernel Tualatin Intel corporation has released processors Celeron intended for the market of computers Low End. New processors though demand new motherboards, are capable, as shows testing, to substitute not only processors of the previous models of this class, but also the processors of Pentium III which have been earlier taken up a position for computers High End and Mainstream.

The first representative of processors Celeron with kernel Tualatin has clock rate of 1,2 GHz.
Its main features are more low presented.

Processing technique Data Prefetch Logic improves operation of the processor with the cache memory, calculating and loading in it data which can be demanded to the processor on following clock ticks. The processor kernel has received Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) — the special metal slice protecting it and improving thermal modes of maintenance.

The new bar of processors Celeron demands special motherboards. First of all, it concerns requirements on power supplies. Processors with Tualatin have no such characteristic, as a constant voltage of kernel Vcore. The role of this characteristic is fulfilled by load straight lines. The supply voltage of kernel Vcore for processors with kernel Tualatin decreases from some initial level (for Celeron 1,2 GHz are 1,475), approximately to level 1,25 V.Stepen of lowering Vcore depend on growth of computing load on the processor. Besides, for new processors the power on the processor bus with 1,5 In to 1,25 Century is reduced

New architectural features have led to change of specifications of VRM unit. It is a part of the motherboard and will transform the standard supply voltage submitted from a power supply unit to level, a kernel of the processor necessary for correct operation. For processors with kernel Tualatin it should satisfy specifications 8.5. It is VRM 8.5 unit. New specification VRM assumes usage of several outputs of the processor which in the previous models were backup. It does not allow to maintain processors with kernel Tualatin with earlier released motherboards which are not supporting processors of the given architecture.

The special chip sets supporting new level of signals FSB and a number of changes, linked to optimisation of operation with the processor, and even depositing corresponding korrektivov in monitoring of operation of hardware are besides, necessary.

New bar Celeron is supported by cards on the basis of chip sets i815 Step B and sets of system logic from other manufacturers. These chip sets created, by the way, on the basis of well-known sets, have in the name T character — for example, ALi Aladdin Pro 5T from ALi corporation, VIA Apollo PLET, VIA Apollo Pro133T, VIA Apollo Pro266T, from VIA corporation. They have contact arrangement compatible to the prototypes. It facilitates development and release of the motherboards supporting processors on the basis of kernel Tualatin.
