The modern computer market offers a considerable quantity of the arrangements which have come in the stead traditional bridgewares and an information storage. The transportable USB-disk drive Seagate Portable External Hard Drive which is hooked up to the computer by means of external bus USB 2.0 became one of such arrangements. At the same time disks DVD step-by-step replacing them, predictably, soon will be superseded by more capacious optical carriers. All it speaks perfection and complicating of the system and applied software, demanding more and more capacious carriers. Really, any more the rarity files, whose size is gauged in gigabytes.

It is obvious, that the considerable quantity of carriers at copying of the information demands rather big efforts and time. Moreover, carriers cease to arrange by such important criterion, as dependability and the price. Considering these circumstances, becomes obvious, that alternative arrangements and, of course, new media are required.

Not pressing in technical parametres of the enumerated resources, it is necessary to mark, that all of them possess both conclusive advantages, and some limitations, and lacks.

As to resources for carrying over of programs and data in case of real great volumes of the information hard disk drives (HDD) remain champions as on information capacity, and low cost of storage of unit of the information. This circumstance is well known to numerous users of modern computers.

Certainly, between computers of programs and data it is possible to apply to carrying over successfully traditional HDD a form factor 3,5 ”. However their usage as portable resources is, to put it mildly, not so optimal. Much more conveniently and more operatively to use the compact arrangements which are created on the basis of HDD and hooked up to the computer by means of interface USB.

As an example it is possible to result the transportable USB-disk drives created and made by company Seagate. The arrangements fulfilled on the basis of HDD of form factors 3,5 concern such products ”, 2,5”, 1 ”. Each of products of the specified bars possesses the advantages, but only two last of three enumerated do not require additional power supply units as energy receive directly from port USB.

It is necessary to mark, that the high model with 1 ”HDD has been recently considered on pages of the given issuing. Queue of the high model created on the basis of HDD of a form factor 2,5” and 100 Gbytes having size now has come . The name of the given model - Seagate Portable External Hard Drive.

As a computer platform for testing of transportable USB-disk drive SeagatePortable External Hard Drive in size of 100 Gbytes compact notebook Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO M 1420 used. Into its structure enter:

·         Motherboard FUJITSUSIEMENS Montara-GML version FAB-2 (the processor bus of 400 MHz, Intel chip set 855GME and ICH4-M),

·         the Processor of Intel of Pentium M 735 with kernel Dothan (90 nanometers) and clock rate 1,7 GHz,

·         the Disk drive on hard 2,5-inch magnetic disks in size FUJITSUMHT2080AT of 80 Gbytes,

·        Units of dynamic storage SO-DIMM DDR333 units, 512 Mb (extends to 1 Gbytes),

·         ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600 PRO c 128 Videoadapter Mb RAM (chip ATI M10P), the supported permission of the external screen monitor 1600х1200,

·        DVD+RW RW8165 (DVD 8x / DVD+R 4x / DVD+RW 2.4x / CD 24x / CD-R 16x/CD-RW 8x),

·         the Operating system of Microsoft Windows XP HomeEdition.

After hooking up Portable External Hard Drive to a notebook in a window «My computer» appears a new logical disk. By means of a choice of appropriate options it is possible to output on the display screen of value of the information capacity making 93,1 Gbytes (   100 000 000 000 byte). About high-speed parametres it is possible to judge data resulted in Table 3 - Table 5 and in a Fig. 3 – a Fig. 5. As standard USB-disk drives 1-inch arrangement Seagate of 5 Gbytes and arrangement FlashDisk of 64 Mb have been selected  .
