Dispersal of processors through change of multipliers
The frequency multiplier for processors AMD Athlon (Thunderbird) and AMD Duron is fixed, however motherboards Soltek SL-KV75 + and Abit KT7 provide possibility of its change. But all not so is simple. The advertised possibility concerns only the first releases of processors. Since some moment AMD corporation has limited the given possibility. For new processors the signal lines responsible for change of a frequency factor have appeared intersected. However, fortunately enthusiasts of the dispersal, the given procedure is fulfilled by AMD corporation over bridges L1 output on a surface of the processor. Having shorted the intersected bridges, it is possible to restore the lost possibilities of change of a frequency factor. It can be made by means of soft, ostrozatochennogo a pencil (M2-M4), overwriting intersected bridges L1 on the processor. Thus it is necessary to avoid closure of adjacent bridges. Results of procedure are shown in following photos on which processor AMD Duron fragments are presented.
Advantage of the given method is possibility of fast restoring of a trade dress of the processor by means of a wadded tampon and spirit.
Used processor AMD Athlon (Thunderbird) did not require restoring procedure that it is possible to observe on a photo.
After restoring of the broken off bridges on processor AMD Duron change of a frequency factor by probably resources of motherboards.
The choice of value of a frequency factor of the processor at motherboard Soltek SL-KV75 usage + is carried out by means of an appropriate dip switch (it is selected for card Soltek SL-KV75 photo +).
Here again it is necessary to mark following features of motherboard Soltek SL-KV75 +. In the documentation on this card it is informed, that the light-emitting diode luminescence signals about possibility of usage of resources of change of a frequency factor. However the light-emitting diode shone even at usage of the processor with intersected bridges L1 on the processor. The following feature is linked to dip switch usage. In the course of dispersal the impossibility of installation of some values of a frequency factor was clarified. Possibly, the secret consists in the combinations of a dip switch repeating for some values of a factor. Thus, on this card it was possible to instal only 3 working values of a factor for processor Duron 600: 6, 6.5 and 8.
Motherboard Abit KT-7 for which the choice of parametres of dispersal is fulfilled by resources BIOS Setup is deprived similar features. In this connection, only the results received on card Abit KT7 here will be considered.
Results of dispersal, and also the selected modes are presented in tables and on diagrammes.
