Pattern of system with processor AMD Duron.
The motherboard: Abit KT7 (chip set VIA Apollo KT133, processor Socket A plug , standard clock rate of 100 MHz FSB DDR).
The processor: AMD Duron 600 (600 MHz, cache memory L1 — 128 Kbytes, cache memory L2 — 64 Kbytes, working on complete frequency of the processor, standard clock rate FSB EV6 — 100 MHz, a transmission frequency given — 200 MHz, power of a kernel — 1,5 In, the processor plug — Socket A).
Hard disk: IBM DPTA-372050 (20 Gbytes, 2 Mb of the cache memory, UltraDMA/66).
Dynamic storage: 128 Mb, PC100.
The videoadapter: Asus AGP-V3800 TV (video chip set TNT2, a video memory —32 Mb).
CD-ROM: ASUS CD-S400/A (40x).
OS: Windows 98 with the installed drivers of the controller of hard disks UDMA/66.
Exercisers: a package of tests WinBench 99 v1.1, namely CPUmark99 and FPU WinMark.
Dispersal.
In the course of dispersal clock rate of the system bus has been increased about standard 100 MHz to 115 MHz. The further increase in clock rate of bus FSB EV6 (Alpha EV6) led to astable system operation, that basically is linked to features of the architecture of the bus of processor EV6 and frequency properties of chip set VIA Apollo KT133 on which basis the used motherboard is created, and also with topology of the motherboard and, of course, with quality of its manufacture.
Value of frequency coefficient of the processor varied with resources SoftMenu BIOS Setup of motherboard Abit KT7.
It is necessary to mark, that in testing the copy of the processor with the blocked frequency coefficient used. For its deblocking that allowed to use appropriate specialised resources of the motherboard, the technique resulted, for example, in http://rudteam.narod.ru/cpu/new-amd-oc.html used. The essence of this technique is reduced to accurate closure of contact bridges L1 on a surface of processors AMD Duron and AMD Athlon (Thunderbird), that illustrates fig. 10.

Results of testing of the dispersed system, which basis were made by processor AMD Duron, are resulted in the table and on fig. 11, 12.

Change of frequency coefficient of the processor together with increase in clock rate of the processor bus allows to reach new heights in struggle for productivity of the processor, and, therefore, and all computer to what the resulted results of testing testify: maximum productivity of system of the specified pattern has been reached at frequency FSB 107 DDR and a factor 8,5, power of a kernel / I/O — 1,75/3,4 In, processor temperature — 50 With.
It is necessary to mark, that the subsequent release by VIA corporation of chip set VIA Apollo KT133A has allowed to expand a frequency range of possible values for processor FSB bus. Examples of a quiescent operation of systems on frequencies FSB of 160 MHz DDR are known . It at first sight allows to refuse possibility of change of a frequency factor of the processor, however, as practice shows, the combination of the specified two methods provides reception of the best results taking into account possibilities and features of used accessories
